Efficiency standards for Indian buses and trucks

In July, the Indian government proposed fuel consumption standards for heavy-duty vehicles in a draft notification issued by the road transport ministry. From April 2023, all types of buses and trucks would have to comply with the fuel consumption standards and fuel consumption target. The new norms will compel manufacturers and importers to make or bring fuel-efficient vehicles into the Indian market. Government-approved testing agencies will carry out compliancy tests for the Constant Speed Fuel Consumption (CSFC) standard and for compliance with the fuel consumption target.
