Webinar: Strengthening the Climate-Ocean-Nature-Nexus in the Baltic-Black Sea Region
Rising temperatures, ocean acidification, eutrophication, deoxygenation and biodiversity loss are increasingly interacting and reinforcing one another across the Baltic and Black Sea regions. At the same time, governance remains fragmented across climate, water, marine, biodiversity and agricultural policies, limiting the effectiveness of responses. Because many environmental pressures originate upstream and affect entire marine basins, stronger coordination is needed across sectors, countries and levels of governance.
The ECOADAPTOR project has explored how climate change and ocean acidification are affecting the Baltic–Black Sea region, how these challenges are addressed in current governance frameworks, and how adaptation can be strengthened through greater cooperation and more integrated approaches.
This final webinar will present the key findings and recommendations developed through the project and discuss how they can contribute to more coherent and effective climate and marine adaptation policies. We will bring together researchers, civil society organisations, policy experts and decision-makers to explore opportunities for strengthening the connections between climate, ocean, nature and other policy areas.
Importantly, the webinar is also an opportunity for dialogue and exchange. We invite participants to share their experiences and provide feedback on the recommendations, helping us identify how they can be further developed and put into practice. By connecting perspectives across countries, sectors and governance levels, the webinar aims to support continued cooperation towards a more resilient Baltic–Black Sea region.
